Profile: Matt's litigation experience includes all areas of transportation law, with a focus on Marine law. Matt has experience with complex multi-party litigation, and has appeared in all Atlantic Canadian jurisdictions.

He has conducted trials in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and appeals in the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal and has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Matt also has experience in municipal law, and has acted as external counsel to a number of Municipalities.

Matt was a longtime Lecturer in the Department of Sociology/Criminology at Saint Mary's University, and continues to present at various conferences.

He is the past Chair of the Litigation Section of the Canadian Bar Association and is currently a member of CBA Council. Matt is a Director of the Canadian Maritime Law Association, a member of the Eastern Admiralty Law Association and Canadian Board of Marine Underwriters. He is recognized in the prestigious "Best Lawyers in Canada" guide for Admiralty Law.
